In a surprising collaboration that defies conventional forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal announcement, "An unusual meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of prohibited practices and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the obscurity." The plot presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden cult.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Metamorphoses

The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Bonus Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an special katana alongside multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Newest Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's latest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally featured a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
