Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities determined he posed a concrete flight risk while under home confinement.

The one-time leader was convicted of orchestrating a military coup in the ninth month and handed more than over two decades in incarceration, but he was staying under house arrest pending court reviews.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the move to detain the elderly politician was a safety action after "new facts" came to light.

This encompassed attempting to break his tracking device and a invitation to a demonstration that could enable a potential flight.

Judicial Records Show Escape Risks

In a paperwork permitting the arrest, the magistrate said information from the centre monitoring Bolsonaro's house arrest suggested the former leader's aim to disable the tracking monitor to secure accomplishment in his flight.

Context of Sentencing

Bolsonaro was determined responsible of leading a conspiracy aimed at keeping him in power after he failed to win the national vote to his left-wing rival, President Lula.
