It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
